Ready to kick your bike anxiety to the curb?

Announcing our City Cyclist Community Clinic Spring 2025 Series in collaboration with Upshift Workshop

You might be wondering what’s so important that I’m hearing from Circle and Spoke on a Thursday morning … I’ve got a little surprise about one of our spring offerings that might just cause you to fall of your saddle…

But first, a brief story…

In 2023, I was gearing up to ride from DC to Pittsburgh and I felt all sorts of bike worries arising. I’d never done something like this before.

“If my bike has an issue, I’m screwed,” I thought.

But I was committed to my goal, so rather than feel small about not knowing what to do, I decided to get educated.

And so, I hired, Leah Fantle of Upshift Workshop to come to my apartment to tune my bike and she taught me how to fix a flat tire.

In the end, on my week-long trip to Pittsburgh, my uncle anticipated that I’d get at least one flat tire. I had zero flat tires and he had three in one day.

But I felt prepared that if push came to flat, I’d patch up my tire or put in a fresh inner tube and hit the trail.

Riding through Ohiopyle on my way to Pittsburgh with zero flat tires, but all the confidence that I was ready for issues that might arise!

Thanks to working with Leah of Upshift Workshop, I knew what tools I needed to have on hand and how to deal with my specific bicycle.

It felt so refreshing working with Leah.

Her empathy and belief in me, woman to woman, was a huge boon to my confidence. She believed unequivocal (and so did I) that I could learn the basic mechanic skills, endurance and bikepacking wherewithal to train and hit the trail in 7 weeks to bike the 330 mile journey to Pittsburgh.

I’m thrilled to share that this spring, Circle and Spoke and Upshift Workshop are joining forces, to help you feel confident in the saddle with a 3 part series for women and non-binary folks!
